:::
*Hi,
I'm Berry Shortcake... I'd love to play the part of Star Shiner in your
school play! It would That would be really nice! Thank you for inviting
me! I'm absolutely flattered. I can't wait until the first rehearsal!*
Shortcake
was writing (or rather, using her magic to write with her favorite,
naturally-rainbow-colored quill) to the Glowshine Filly School, in reply
to their invitation. She'd mostly gotten over the pre-nervousness
thing, and now Shortcake actually was quite excited to have been picked
as one of the lucky main-character actors.
This
play was going to be a big event, too! Princess Dazzle-Dusk was going
to be watching from the higher seats that seemed to reach the ceiling.
Lemon-Lime and Raina had even said whispered stuttered that they might
come to watch, and they were just about the shyest unicorns in
Glowshine! Shortcake already thought it would be awemazing!
*Hello to anypony who receives this. I'm Dazzler, and I would love to play Sun Twirl in your play! It would be lovely!*
Dazzler
wrote, her bright pink telekinetic aura surrounding the quill as she
writes. The letter was to Glowshine Filly School accepting their
invitation to act one of the main characters in their school play. Their
play was meant to educate the fillies on how Glowshine got its name.
The older fillies would be taking part in the play (the 4th through 6th
grades (our O.C.s are in 6th).) Unlike Shortcake, Dazzler hadn't even
gone through the pre-nervousness phase due to her natural acting
personality and her acting job at the theatre of course, so she's used
to the feeling.
Although
she was the teeny-weeny-itsy-bitsy-tiny-whiny slightest bit nervous
because Princess Dazzle-Dusk would be there! Dazzler had never performed
for the princess herself before so it was quite actually not even
nerve-wracking at all! She was very confident in her acting abilities
and believed she would be able to do it. This would also be one of the
very few times her B.U.F.F. (Best unicorn friend forever) Raina would be
there considering her painful shyness. Lemon-Lime would be there too
and is also painfully shy aswell. Dazzler was confident and knew that it
would be one of the most awesome performances of her life!
(Millie Sprite is a background character and will not appear much throughout our stories.)
"Um...
Shortcake? I... I think it's time for your rehearsal... ?" Lemon-Lime
whispered from Shortcake's bedroom doorway. Despite being best unicorn
friends forever, Lemon-Lime's voice was shy and gentle towards basically
any-pony, but she wasn’t purposefully stuttering. It was just natural.
"I made you a jumpsuit... It's, um, dark pink... I added sparkly
pearls," she added in a high, nervous tone, as if she thought that
Shortcake wouldn't like it.
"Uh...
I, um, wanted to make a b-bracelet... or, um, maybe... a... a
headband... b-but a... jumpsuit... um, s-seemed to fit... the... uh,
rehearsal b-better..." she said quietly, stumbling over her words.
"Oh!
Thanks!" Shortcake smiled gratefully at Lemon-Lime. They trotted to her
room. "I'd love to wear it to the first rehearsal," Shortcake said
cheerfully. They stopped when they reached the lemon-yellow room
patterned with lime-green strokes of paint. Shortcake's eyes widened at
the beautiful, simple, jeweled jumpsuit that was neatly fit on a
mannequin in the center of the room. "Wow," she said "Every-pony will
love your fashions!"
Nervous
from the thought, Lemon-Lime shuddered, and her horn sparked a faint
green glow. Shortcake noticed this, and it wasn't the first time,
either. Lemon-Lime was such a shy unicorn, but it was okay. "Don't
worry," Shortcake assured her, "I won't say who made it. It'll be a
mystery." Lemon-Lime smiled.
"Oh,
and are you coming to the first rehearsal?" Shortcake questioned,
taking the jumpsuit off the mannequin and ducking behind a large,
colorful changing screen. She popped out a minute later, wearing the
beautiful jumpsuit. "Well... I, um... maybe it's not the best idea...
uh, if I go to your... um... rehearsal. I... also made the suit, um,
because I wanted you to know... that... even though I, uh... I'm not
g-going to be there... I still hope you do good at... your first
rehearsal," Lemon-Lime said quietly. Shortcake nodded understandingly.
It wouldn't be the same at rehearsal without Lemon-Lime, but she was so
shy... it wouldn't be better if she forced her to go.
"Um...I...I'm
not so sure I w-want to go Dazzler. You know that too much social
interaction glitches out my magic. But I might still be at the actual
show." Raina said. "Yeah, I know. I was just hoping you'd be there for
my first rehearsal." Dazzler said the slightest bit disappointed. But
her magic does glitch with too much social interaction. She just wanted
her to be at the first rehearsal of the most important show of her life.
At least she'd still be at the real show. It took a long time to
convince her to come, especially since she's such a good negotiator. The
actual performance would probably be just about enough for her to
handle. "Here. I made this for you to bring you luck." Raina said while
handing Dazzler a beaded necklace with an engraved heart pendant in the
middle. The engraved part said the word "hope". "I love it! It probably
took forever to make this!" Dazzler said. "Thank you so so much!" "Your
welcome. It didn't take that long to make. A couple hours actually." "A
couple hours!? I never would have had enough patience for that!" Dazzler
exclaimed in amazement. "Well you'd better get going. I don't want to
make you late for your first rehearsal." Raina said. "Ok. Wish me luck!"
Dazzler said over her shoulder as she walked in the direction of the
filly school. "Good luck." Raina whispered.
Shortcake
nervously strolled down the long aisles in the Glowshine Filly School’s
assembly room (or auditorium). She was greeted by Millie Sprite, who
turned out to be incredibly nice, and Flash Frizz, a friendly movie
director with a stylish purple-and-blue mane. Flash Frizz was known to
wear her mane in various different mane-styles. That particular day, it
was in a thick braid, with the vibrant purple hue just streaking in and
out from the mostly-blue mane. “Hi!” Flash Frizz exclaimed, obviously
excited. “I’m Flash Frizz. You probably already know me from being the
director-mare of many small movies, but hi, anyway!”
Nodding,
Shortcake tried to smile. Even though Flash Frizz seemed so sweet and
outgoing, Shortcake didn’t want to upset the important mare. “Yes, um,
hi? I’m Shortcake… Berry Shortcake. I’m… wait, are those fire rubies in
your necklace?”
Flash
Frizz laughed. “My, you’ve got quite the eye for design! Yes, yes,
these are fire rubies. Have you considered being a fashion artist?” she
said kindly.
Smiling
from both embarrassment and flattery, Shortcake replied, “Well, no,
actually… my friend showed me a fire ruby once. She got it from her…
special school place. I just happen to remember things well. That’s
all.”
Shortcake
sat down in one of the front-row assembly room chairs, the ones that
fillies were never allowed to sit in during school-day assemblies. She
felt important. Like a movie director. And she waited. And waited. And
waited… hoping that Dazzler would arrive soon so they could all start
the first rehearsal.
Dazzler
strutted up to the filly school and went straight to the auditorium.
She pushed the big door with her magic, a trail of bright pink magical
aura coming from her horn. Inside there were fillies running around,
talking, and practicing lines. She immediately spotted Shortcake going
over the script. Dazzler trotted over to her. "Hey Shortcake! Do you
want to practice our lines together before the rehearsal starts?"
Dazzler asked. "Hi Dazzler! Sure, I think I could use the extra
practice. I've never actually been in a play before," Replied Shortcake.
"I understand how you must feel. I was pretty nervous before my first
rehearsal of my first play too." Dazzler said. "Really? It's kinda hard
to believe that you would be nervous about a play." Said Shortcake. "Well everyone gets nervous sometimes, don't they?" Dazzler replied simply. "I guess you're right, Dazzler." Shortcake said thoughtfully. "C'mon. Lets go over the lines" Said Dazzler. "Ok." Shortcake answered. The two walked over to a bench and started going over lines the script.
“Okay,
every-pony, hi! You’ve probably all been students at this school, so no
need for welcomes, right?” said Flash Frizz. Every-pony in the room
nodded, some of the younger fillies laughing and jokingly shoving each
other.
“Well,
I’m Flash Frizz. I’ve directed some of your older school plays. If
you’re in fifth grade, you probably know me,” she continued. Shortcake
saw a variety of ponies smiling, obviously feeling proud (for some
reason). “Alright, so this is the script. You all should have learned
about the topic of the play, so… shall we begin?” Flash Frizz pushed
back her braided mane. Millie Sprite was talking to a filly with a
silvery-pink mane, occasionally giggling. Fillies looked at each other
and started talking, pointing at the scripts, or just sitting and
enjoying the moment.
Dazzler
looked at her script, delighted that she had a main character to play.
Even though Star Shiner was the MAIN character, Sun Twirl was one of the
three main sisters, so Dazzler was satisfied.
